"Won't it be great when, at the sunset of our lives, we can say we lived each part fully, deepening and broadening our understanding and appreciation of ourselves as we went along?"

- Virgina Satir (1988). The New Peoplemaking. 310 -

Standpoint of view: As human beings, we are constantly surrounded by social systems, and even more, we are permanently in a systemic connection with ourselves - our body and mind - and our environment. This is not only vital, but essential to a healthy sense of self. However, just as we influence systems, we are always influenced by our environment, past and present. Systemic Therapy helps individuals understand the relationship between their early life experiences and current challenges. Rather than focusing on the present problem, the treatment assists the individual in recognizing patterns and learning how to respond adequately to them. Systemic Therapy offers many benefits, including gaining a better understanding of self, learning to see things from different perspectives, feeling empowered to make life choices, developing empathy for others, and building healthy relationships. Tools such as narrative therapy, solution-focused interventions, hypno-systemic and many more are scientifically proven approaches to improving one's well-being.

This has led me to focus on the following areas of psychotherapy: relationship dynamics, sexuality, couples therapy, and biographical work.

As a scholar of applied anthropology and contemporary history specializing in queer studies, I am particularly familiar with modern societal systems. My explorations of individual self-realization, postmodern relationships, and sexual and gender diversity focus on European and North American cultures. In all of these areas we act as human beings in systems that often shape us through unspoken norms. We can only detach ourselves from the direct and indirect actions and reactions of our environment to a limited extent, which is why it is essential in my therapeutic setting to establish a helpful narrative of one's own in order to be able to follow solution-oriented paths in a self-determined way.

The stated goal of the therapy is to strengthen the self-esteem and autonomy of the individual personas in the system, regardless of whether they are family, professional and/or social reference systems. This is achieved by encouraging and developing their own ideas for solutions and by actively addressing non-verbal and verbal communication patterns. In all systems there are always opportunities for change that can be used for one's own well-being. In the shared therapeutic process, psychological and psychosomatic problems can be healed, conflicts can be resolved, and personal circumstances can be improved.

"Once a system is kicked in a right direction and with sufficient initial push, the deviation-amplifying mutual positive feedbacks take over the process, and the resulting development will be disproportionately large as compared with the initial kick."

- Steve de Shazer (1982). Patterns of brief family therapy: An ecosystemic approach. 96 -
